The rapid transformation of the municipality of Roquetas has resulted in the typical features of contemporary urban sprawl, one of the most notable characteristics of which is the absence of an urban centre with memory, identity and urban consistency. This project aims to create a place that provides the missing ingredients to consolidate an urban salon in the heart of the city through an implementation that enhances the virtues of this location. It includes the space freed up after the demolition of the buildings that fill the block, creating a public space intended to serve as a symbolic centre and identity for the population. To this end, the building takes on the alignment of the façade of the Parish Church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, doubling the surface area of the Plaza de la Constitución. The volume resulting from this occupation strategy is carved and pierced on its ground floor to ensure permeability between the Plaza de la Constitución and the Plaza Luis Martín-C/ Duque de Ahumada. The carving is achieved by freeing up the corner of C/ Cid to improve visibility and the flow of people, while the piercing consists of opening up the ground floor to allow passage through the building, crossing the central atrium that organises it.
